Renovating your Home?

1/15/2021 (Permalink)

Just because it’s winter time it doesn’t mean home renovation projects necessarily go on hold. Since the weather outside isn’t really ideal for outdoor renovations, homeowners tend to start projects indoors to utilize time. When it comes to indoor projects, it’s always a good idea to start thinking of safety first. So how should you go about preventing accidents and practicing safety?

Start by making sure you have the proper equipment and that it works correctly. This is the first major step to thinking about safety with your home renovation projects. Malfunctioning equipment can cause injuries, air quality problems, messed up projects, and more, so a quick and thorough check will go a long way.

Wearing the right clothing and protective gear is extremely important since protecting your eyes, hands, ears, and skin is always a good idea. Taking care when using certain equipment, like ladders and power tools, is important too.

The outside of your body isn’t all you should worry about with renovation safety; caring for your lungs is also important! Be sure to have good ventilation when sanding, sawing, or painting. Wearing a protective mask may also be a good idea since particles from sanding and other projects can be so fine in texture.

Also, don’t forget that things like renovation dust will clog your air filters in your home more quickly, so always change them once you’re finished with your project. This is probably one of the most important cleanup projects since the air quality in your home is important to your health.

If you decide at the end of a large renovation project (or just because it’s overdue!) that your HVAC system could use a revamp itself, call us for an air duct cleaning. Our service technicians will come to your home and perform a hassle-free and thorough cleaning, extending the life of your furnace and improving your air quality at the same time.
